FAITH AFTER FAITH

"Children should never be exploited or harmed in religious or faith communities. Abuse is NEVER justified."

Leaving a harmful religious environment can be a daunting journey, especially for children. It's crucial for them to know that seeking help is not only okay but also a brave step towards reclaiming their autonomy.

Connecting with support networks is key; friends, family, or even school counselors can offer a listening ear and guidance. Online platforms like Recovering from Religion (recoveringfromreligion.org) provide resources and communities for those transitioning out of religious settings.

Educational resources play a vital role as well. Encouraging kids to explore different perspectives can help them understand their experiences better. Books like "Leaving the Witness" by Amber Scorah and "Educated" by Tara Westover share personal stories of breaking free from restrictive backgrounds, offering inspiration and insight.

It's essential for children to recognize that their feelings are valid, and seeking professional therapy or counseling can be immensely beneficial. Organizations like Childhelp (childhelp.org) offer confidential support for those dealing with abuse or neglect. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, and a brighter, more authentic future awaits beyond harmful religious constraints.

WE MUST ALWAYS PROTECT OUR CHILDREN

Exploitation of children in the name of religion, cults, high demand groups or culture, like child marriages and the global cover-up of harm to children within the Catholic Church are deeply concerning issues that demand attention. Child marriages, prevalent in various parts of the world, perpetuate cycles of abuse and deny children their basic rights. Organizations like Girls Not Brides (girlsnotbrides.org) work tirelessly to raise awareness and combat child marriage, advocating for policy changes and community engagement.

The Catholic Church's historical cover-up of harm to children has caused immense pain and suffering. The Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report (attorneygeneral.gov) and the documentary "The Keepers" shed light on the extent of the abuse. Survivors can find healing through support groups, therapy, and organizations like SNAP (survivorsnetwork.org), which offer resources for survivors of clergy abuse.

While the wounds may run deep, survivors can find hope in the strength of their resilience. Open dialogue, community support, and seeking professional help are vital steps towards healing. Together, we can work towards a safer world for children and survivors, fostering hope for a brighter future.
